Job Purpose

Job Purpose

The primary purpose of this leadership role is to ensure that each store exceeds customer expectations in terms of ease of shopping, service, variety, freshness, cleanliness, food safety, and regulatory compliance. As a subject matter expert in Meat/Seafood, you will collaborate with the Meat/Seafood Merchandiser to provide feedback on merchandising and operational plans/programs. This role involves working closely with associates to execute store product plan-o-grams and acting as a knowledgeable leader in all aspects of the Meat/Seafood department. A key focus will be on teaching, coaching, and upskilling store associates to enhance the implementation of merchandising plans.

Leadership and Coaching:

  • Instruct and train store associates on the proper use of display space, special or seasonal merchandising techniques, and follow through on the implementation of enterprise/division store sets to ensure proper allocation, variety, and freshness of products.
  • Instruct and train department leaders on writing effective schedules and orders, emphasizing the consequences of ineffective scheduling and ordering practices.
  • Guide department leaders in proper ordering, execution of the sales plan, and implementation and execution of operational processes.
  • Provide feedback to store leaders and district managers on the strengths and developmental opportunities of associates in the Meat/Seafood department.
  • Work with appropriate HR resources and store teams to ensure the effective use of training programs and assist in training.

Compliance and Safety:

  • Ensure store compliance with federal, state, and local laws, and enterprise/division policies; ensure adherence to company standards on applicable commodities and departments.
  • Maintain and support food safety and sanitation best practices.
  • Work with store associates in promoting safety and shared responsibility for achieving a zero-accident safety culture.

Operational Excellence:

  • Assist in the effective implementation of technologies and use of systems (CAO, etc.).
  • Work with stores to achieve the shrink glide path and apply tools to manage this area.
  • Assist in the effective execution of merchandising programs and store sets as per company standards.

Talent Management:

  • Provide input concerning the promotability and selection of store department leaders and assistant department leaders to district managers and field merchandisers.
  • Assist in the training for and transition of new department leaders.
  • Support associates in their professional development through continuous coaching and feedback.

·        Proficiency with computer applications used in department operations

·        Food Safety Certification or ability to obtain it within 180 days of placement

·        Multi-Unit Supervisory Experience
