Job Purpose

Asset Protection and Safety Analyst II will research and analyze information from a variety of sources in order to identify and validate trends relating to sales, shrink, inventory, point of sale (“POS”), profitability and safety. This position will utilize available departmental tools such as digital closed circuit televisions (CCTV), POS exception based systems, inventory reports, Asset Protection Informational Network (APIN) and Critical Information Desk (CID). The Asset Protection and Safety Analyst II will conduct critical incident investigations timely and thoroughly and ensure those investigations are in program conformance with applicable laws and regulations. They will also use their investigative skills to identify risk factors and communicate findings to appropriate leaders in the organization. In addition, they will support departmental or organizational wide projects and serving as a subject matter expert.

 

Essential Responsibilities

Conduct investigations using various sources of information, all legal means necessary and within the framework of established department investigative policies and procedures. Support stores by using digital CCTV and conducting thorough remote video investigations based off information obtained from POS exception based reporting tools, critical incident desk (CID), accident reports (APIN 2.0), requests from stores, the Asset Protection field team and/or Risk Management. Contact stores as needed to ensure all information has been collected, properly reported, and ensure appropriate follow-up actions have occurred. Comply with legal subpoena requests by remotely identifying, downloading and providing video. Using exception based reporting, alarm information, and shrink data, support investigations of high center store and fresh inventory shrink to determine the root cause. Reverse engineer safety and shortage related issues to identify root cause and make recommendations to minimize future exposure.

Support AP department by conducting periodic surveillance of retail locations, distribution centers and office locations to resolve or identify criminal activity. Use editing software tools to preserve video clips or still images for evidence purposes. Provide crisis situation support (Weather Events, Civil Unrest, etc.) through digital CCTV, communication and reporting while partnering with law enforcement when required. Provide a review of CCTV systems and communicate any issues to the appropriate vendor and AP Department leader.

Support business partners by providing reporting or metrics to identify trends or review business priorities. Utilize CCTV to locate relevant video clips to quantify or highlight specific activity impacting the business. Communicate all instances or theft or fraud to the appropriate partners, including Asset Protection leadership, Risk Management, or Store Operations. As assigned, conduct visual audits on key processes in stores and formally report findings.

Serve as an end to end subject matter expert for a department or organization program or process (including Appriss products, high level investigations, etc.). This includes working closely with internal partners and vendors to review key elements, align on deliverables, and champion systematic upgrade. Provide regular updates to the business through formal communications or presentations.

Using data and information gathered from investigations and reporting, provide key insights on various business problems with AP Department. Sponsor training program for new hire associates and actively assess progress. Accurately describe job responsibilities and provide information on how to complete tasks. Participate in tours of the AP Analytics Center for key business partners and industry professionals.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required

• Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, business administration or related field and at least two (2) years’ experience in asset protection/loss prevention, forensic accounting, auditing or related field; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

• Demonstrated proficiency in forensic audit tasks and investigations.

• Possess a valid driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record.

• Ability to read, write and speak English proficiently.

• Ability to understand and follow English instructions.

• Authorization to work in the United States or the ability to obtain the same.

• Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Preferred

• Certified Forensic Interviewers (CFI)/Certified Fraud Examiners (CFE)/Certified Protection Professional (CPP) designation.

• Possess financial acumen, flexibility, resiliency and self-direction.

• Proficiency using data base systems (ex. Hyperion)

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to effectively convey complex and detailed information to a diverse population.
